Yoga and more

awareness and well-being

At the Harmonia Ashram we apply the somatic approach also to yoga. This means asking yourself, during the Practice:

What do I feel at this moment?

Listening to ourselves, we can adapt the practice to our uniqueness, including and bringing awareness to all that is, now. In this way, we train our personal perception and become responsible, knowing that it is our choice and no one else can know our body better than us.

During a Yoga class we “investigate” ourselves, allowing our body to communicate and letting our personal experience guide us through the movement rather than “believing” instructions from outside. In this way, the somatic approach leads us to know ourselves better and to adapt our practice to our dynamic and constantly evolving system.

Change only comes if we are aware of what we do and what we need. By reclaiming our right to choose for ourselves and trusting our bodies to know what is good for us, we are inviting transformation and creativity.

The first step is know ourselves: understanding our movement habits, behavior patterns, the strength and fragility of our body. We need to engage in a conversation with our body and become explorers, guided by curiosity, respect and love.
